International Human Rights Day

On this December 10, 2025, we celebrate International Human Rights Day and the 77ᵉ anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, adopted by the United Nations General Assembly on December 10, 1948.
For the René Cassin Foundation – International Institute of Human Rights, this date is inextricably linked with the figure of our founder, René Cassin. A major architect of the Universal Declaration, he devoted much of his life to building an international legal order based on human dignity and the protection of the most vulnerable. The Nobel Peace Prize he was awarded in 1968 gave decisive impetus to the creation of the International Institute of Human Rights, whose mission we continue to pursue today.
In Strasbourg, at the heart of the European capital of human rights, the René Cassin Foundation works on a daily basis to train, equip and support those who defend fundamental rights: legal professionals, civil society players, academics, students and young people from all over the world.
On this December 10th, we reaffirm our commitment to bringing to life the spirit of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, not only as a founding text, but as a horizon for concrete action in the service of justice, equality and peace.
