Wishes for 2026
The Fondation René Cassin – Institut international des droits de l’Homme wishes you a happy new year, in the firm belief that fundamental rights are not abstract principles, but concrete guarantees – for freedom, security, dignity, the protection of individuals and the rule of law.
In many parts of the world, legal frameworks designed to protect individuals and limit arbitrariness are being put to the test. All too often, international law and human rights protection mechanisms are undermined, challenged or relegated to the background, with direct and lasting consequences for civilian populations.
In the face of these dynamics, our collective responsibility remains unchanged: to maintain the course of the law, to train and pass on knowledge, to document violations, and to support those who are committed, on a daily basis, to the defense of freedoms and human dignity.
We hope that the coming year will be marked by effective respect for fundamental rights and common rules, and that the protection of individuals will once again become a key priority for public and international action.
